Our Story

The Reynolds Grocery Company was opened by Sean Reynolds in 2013. The RGC is devoted to working with small ecologically minded and sustainably practicing farms and producers. We are proud to source the majority of our  products from within 150 miles of Louisville, KY. Over the last three years we have crafted close relationships with dozens of local growers and makers, this means that we know where our products come from, what they are produced with, and how they get to us.

Sean's great great great grandfather, Azam Said Barkett, immigrated to the states in 1897 from Lebanon. He lived in Hickman, KY with his brothers where they owned The Barkett Wholesale Grocery Co. that moved dry bulk goods up and down the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Sean is proud to be carrying on his family tradition of selling groceries in Kentucky.

The Reynolds Garden Company

This year Sean Reynolds and Hadley Piper started The Reynolds Garden Company which is located on Lakshmi Farms in Anchorage, KY. The Reynolds Garden will provide The Reynolds Grocery Company with a more consistent supply of vegetables as well as with unique heirlooms varieties to highlight the wide selection of cultivars that can be grown right here in Kentucky. In addition to supplying The RGC the Reynolds Garden will be providing a "Tiny CSA" that will be available for pick up in our store and at the farm.

Local Product

We work with a number of local companies, producers, and makers.

We carry honey that is harvested by season and from different neighborhoods. Three different local cheese makers provide us with raw milk cheese from sustainably raised local dairy cows. We carry cured and processed meat products from Commonwealth Cure which produces hand made salamis and sausages from locally raised animals. JD's Country milk supplies us with low pasturized and non-homogenized milk from pastured raised dairy cows that feed on grass and occasionally non-gmo feed. We carry Sweetgrass Granola which is made with KY grown sorghum. These are just a few of the many products we carry that are produced our region.
